The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek

The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek is one of the most popular treks in the Annapurna region. There are only few treks in Himalaya that brings us through so many different landscapes in such a short period of time. We walk alongside terraced rice fields, amazing rhododendron and bamboo forests, cute little villages and high altitude landscapes. And most of the time we can see the fantastic Annapurna Range with their famous peaks of Annapurna South (7219 m), Machapuchhre (6993 m) and Hiunchuli (6441 m).

The setting of the Annapurna Base Camp at 4130 m is absolute unique and incredibly spectacular. It is also called Annapurna Sanctuary because of its oval shaped plateau which is surrounded by a ring of mountains. Arriving at ABC we find ourselves face to face with the magical Annapurna I (8091 m). The sunrise there is truly breathtaking.

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderate trek and takes 10 days. Depending on your available time I can shorten the trek to 7 days or extend to 11 days. The itinerary presented here takes 10 days, starting from Pokhara.

The lodges in the Annapurna Trekking Region offer extensive menus, ranging from the typical Nepali dahl bath (rice with lentils) to pizza’s and spaghetti. Hot showers are available at most of the places.
